It's safe to say, that, from the eighties onwards, all tugs were 'showing' the more-upto-date light patterns that still exist today.
This includes the addition of the information / warning light pattern; vertical column of 3 lamps, 'All-round' Red over White over Red ..... thus giving 360% visibility......... normally fitted to the main mast... but check the main drawing of your model for exact location of these 3 lamps.

This is the same as Modern Tug set, but with the addition of a second coloumn of R-W-R.... More than a few of modern designed tugs have 'stout' detailed featured masts, and as such, need two columns of R-W-R in order that the 360% visibility is achieved.

The 'New' regulations requires lighting patterns for the Direction - of - Travel, rather than which way the tug is facing.... I.e. :- Port light becomes Stbd. light etc..... Study the diagram & all will soon become clear.!!
