Deliveries Outside of Europe
Q.......... I live outside of Europe ( i.e. America / Australia / New Zealand etc.) .. I cannot proceed any further with my order once I get to the Shipping Destination / country section.
A ........... This is because our products are so varied & numerous; and that International shipping costs are so varied, it is virtually impossible to state a standardised price. Therefore the Shipping Costs for each 'overseas' order is priced at 'cost'. E-Mail us at shipping@mobilemarinemodels.com for individual quotes. |

Wiring 'up' the Motor
Q.......... I'm new to model boating.. I'm wiring-up the motor.... Do I need to put positive to positive etc.?
A ........... Not a dumb question ... far from it ..................... ON a DC motor:- If there is two wires of different colours coming from the motor, It does not matter which wire you connect to the '+' , for connected '+' to '+' & '-' to '-' will make the motor run in one direction... & .. connecting '+' to '-' & '-' to '+' will make the motor run in the opposite direction.................. This is what the Speed-controller does automatically as you push or pull on the stick of your transmitter....... So if you set your boat 'up', & find that the boat is going in reverse when you push the 'stick' forward... simply swop the wires of the motor 'over'.
A note of warning............... Most people will tell you that ALL DC motors will run in both directions..... this is not strictly true... there is some DC motors that are called SHUNT motors... these motors are often quite large ( & powerful ) & normally have two wires of the SAME colour....... These motors will only run in ONE direction, irrespective of the way you wire them 'up'.... They are no good whatsoever for model boating, unless of course you require a 'speed' type boat where reverse is not absolutely neccessary........ If buying a second-hand motor, or one from a scrap-yard, always test the motor first, to ensure that 'it' will, indeed, run in both directions. |

Suppressors
Q.......... Do I need to suppress my motor(s)
A ........... Suppressors are near enough a 'thing-of-the-past'.... Technology has progressed to such an extent that if your Radio Gear is , say, less than five years old, and you are using quality motors such as the T4A / T12 / T24 etc., AND, as long as you keep your receiver away from the 'dirty' wiring ( like !!... don't sit the receiver on top of the motor or the battery(s)!!) , there is no need of suppression. |

Fitting a Tow-Hook for towing
Q.......... I want to start 'tugging'....Do I need to fit a vertical post, from the keel to the underside of the deck, under my Tow-Hook .
A ........... It is not always a good 'thing' to fit a vertical post, as the strain of the 'tow' can, in fact, cause localised stress to the point of contact ( post) with the hull.
Think of a modern car.... when fitted with a tow-bar... the fixture is designed so that the whole body-shell of the car takes the strain of the tow..................
By fitting plywood 'pads', underdeck, directly under the position of the 'hook', ( 1/ 8" ply is best) .. 2 or 3, one on top of the other, of different sizes... the first being as large as the space will allow.. the second smaller, & so on & so on... and fitting the hook securely through the deck & into the pads... the stresses & strains are dissipated throughout the whole model. |
