These models are typical of the 'pairs' of working narrowboats that travelled the vast network of canals throughout the heart of England in the heyday of river traffic.
The 'pair', usually consisted of the MOTORBOAT and the non-motorised boat known as the BUTTY. Whilst nostalgia conjures up memories of the 'pair' strapped side-by-side, (ideal for the stability of models), the norm appears to be that the motorboat towed the butty, tug style, in line astern.
The MARGARET, (motorboat) and the JOY, (butty) with their 'stiff' detailed black coloured GRP hulls, come with full size plan, incorporating the templates for the bulkheads etc, offer the individual modeller the opportunity to customise the two boats to any of the now famous and historical canal companies.
